We raise bottom lines.

FOCUSED ON MORE THAN NUMBERS

The professionals at Whitlock, Selim & Keehn, LLP (WSK) can see the big picture of your personal financial and business situation. We believe there's a broader view to accounting than simply preparing your tax returns and financial statements. To a client, an accountant must be a problem solver, a business partner, a sounding board, a financial advisor and a forecaster.

We don't forget the basics either--analyzing and reporting numbers in all the tradtional areas of accounting. We just stay focused on your bottom line. WSK looks for the background behind the numbers such as how they relate to you and your business today and what they mean for your future.

What can we do for you?

Here's the short list of what WSK can help you with. (More details of our specific service areas are below.)

Tax Planning & Return Preparation
Although taxes are inevitable, strategic planning can significantly reduce the amount you owe. And the more you know about the strategies available, the more effective your plan will be. That's where WSK comes in. We have the knowledge and experience to help you manage your personal and business tax liabilities.

In May 2006, we told our clients and friends about the Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act so they could be better prepared to take advantage of tax law changes. In the letter (click here to read it), we help explain AMT relief, extended investor tax breaks, the elimination of Roth IRA conversion income limits, the raising of the kiddie tax age limit from under 14 to under 18, and more. You can also find more tax information in our online brochures. Just check out the Newsletter page of this web site.

We carefully prepare tax returns in the following areas:

  • Individual
  • Corporate
  • Partnership
  • Estate/gift
  • Employee benefit plans
  • Trusts

Check out the R&E Tax Credit page of our web site to find out how most manufacturers are eligible for sizeable federal tax refunds as a result of regulations issued by the U.S. Treasury Department on December 31, 2003.

Employee Benefit Plan Audit
Generally, federal law requires employee benefit plans with 100 or more participants to have an audit as part of their obligation to file an annual return/report (Form 5500 Series). If your plan has filed as a small plan in the past, that threshold increases to 120 eligible participants. With the never-ending changes in federal regulations governing retirement plan compliance continuing to become more complex,
WSK has dedicated an area of our practice to providing audit services for employee benefit plans.

You can count on us to provide audits that meet the requirements of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor (DOL), and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Additionally, WSK is a member of the American Institute of CPA's Audit Quality Center. Our employee benefit plan audits offer peace of mind that everything is taken care of properly, and the services are affordable and timely.

Employee Benefit Plan Administration and Consulting
WSK offers qualified employee benefit plan administration services for all types of businesses. After we listen to and understand your specific needs and ideas, we can provide retirement plan consulting services, including:

  • Plan design
  • Use of WSK regional prototype retirement plan (if elected by employer)
  • Annual review of plan provisions
  • Annual plan administration
  • Filing of required governmental forms

We can also help you with the following plans you may already have established:

  • Profit Sharing
  • Money Purchase Pension 401(k)
  • Savings Incentive Match Plan for Employees (SIMPLE)
  • Target Benefit Pension
